David J. Ritcey
BSc, BBA, CFP, CIM, FCSI, CIMA, TEP
Senior Wealth Advisor
Associate Portfolio Manager

Dave’s professional responsibility in The Ritcey Team is to help clients find peace of mind and financial security by relying on the sound principles of financial planning and investment management.

As a licensed Associate Portfolio Manager, Dave is an investment professional of the highest caliber.  Dave has the discretion to make investment decisions on a client’s behalf should a client desire to fully delegate day-to-day portfolio management.  He is one of very few ScotiaMcLeod advisors across Canada to be awarded this prestigious designation and was chosen based on his record of sound business ethics, proven investment management success, academic achievement and continuing education accomplishments in the securities industry.

After completed Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Business Administration degrees from Acadia University, Dave has been with ScotiaMcLeod for the past 18 years.

Dave is a Certified Financial Planner licensed by the Financial Planners Standards Council and he holds senior professional designations (CIM, FCSI) from the Canadian Securities Institute and the internationally recognized Investment Management Consultants Association (CIMA) and Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (TEP).

David is one of very few Atlantic Canadian advisors to become a Certified Investment Management Analyst (CIMA).  This professional certification is offered through the Investment Management Consultants Association (IMCA), and follows extensive course work and a rigorous examination in conjunction with the prestigious Wharton School of Business at the Ivy League’s University of Pennsylvania.  As the highest standard in investment consulting, CIMA certification has become synonymous with insight, professionalism and most importantly, trust.

Dave is an active member in a number of industry-related organizations; IMCA, The Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP), and The Canadian Institute of Financial Planners (CIFPs) and served two years on the National Council of FCSIs Academy of Fellows.

David has enjoyed time spent teaching introductory and advanced courses in investment and finance.  He has taught introductory investment courses to consumers for the Investor Learning Center of Canada, Professional Financial Planning to industry colleagues for the Canadian Securities Institute, and Investment Analysis to business students for the School of Business at Acadia University.

Dave is a past director of the Apple Blossom Festival and the Central Kings Community Health Board, and has twice been appointed to the Planning Advisory Committee for the Town of Kentville.   He is currently a member of the Eastern Kings Chamber of Commerce, serves on the Kentville Community Development Committee and also sits on the Board of the Kings Historical Society.

David lives in Kentville with his wife Melissa, daughter Lydia and two schnauzers Zack and Gus.  He is an avid sports fan and enjoys following the ups and downs of his favorite Boston Red Sox.  Skiing in the winter and fishing in the summer are leisurely activities enjoyed when time permits.
